Necessary things to be in a good school

To be in Allsop, you must follow some rules that in the school are very important, like to stand in lines before going into the classroom, wear appropiate jackets, ties, pullovers and shoes, use a correct haircut and don't use the mobile phones in class. If you don't follow the last three rules, teacher send you back home. They also can't go out for lunch to fast food shops and if a student don't do his homework, he has to do it in the school after classes.

This place has changed a lot. Now with the new head teacher, students have discipline, they have acces to top universities, the school was re-newed and now the school has resources for teaching and for sports.

I think this school is an exemplary one, but the only thing that I disagree with, is that the head teacher is extremely strict.

Today, I was with all my friends walking in "Los Pinos", after a football match, at "Shell". At that moment we started to run, because near us, there was a dog that barked furiously to a friend and we got scared. When I started to run , I tripped  with something and in the street there were two thousand dollars.

We got surprised and we started to jump and shout of joy. We arrived to the mini market and we spent fifty dollars, only in food and sweet drinks. Meanwhile we were eating, I started to think in what I will do in the future with the money.

I decided to donate the money to a foundation that funds all the expenses that "Techo para Chile" uses.

How to Plan a Perfect Party

To plan a perfect party, you need to think in many things to do it, like a security team to prevent any problem, you need many food, a big place to do it, good music and different kinds of music. Those are the most important things. But, you also have to consider a list of guests, a Dj and you must to prohibit the use of alcohol, because that is the principal reason of why other parties without alcohol, because we never have problems and we can have fun as same as drinking alcohol. So, if you want to do a good party, don't think it, you just have to follow my steps.

A Great Surprise for Enrique

"Last friday, was the best party of the century", said Enrique Quiroz.

Other friens and  me, decided to do a great party for Enrique, because he was sad like two weeks and we didn't know why. So, we taloked with his parents, to do a party in their house and we put all the necessary things, like to have food, drinks, music, to do a list of guests, among other things. The party had a great result, Enrique could change his appearance and now he is happy, the party was the best medicine to change Enrique's attitude. Now, Enrique is doing a new list of guests, because he loved the style of the party, and now, he wants to do a pool party in his house.

Trip to Puerto Varas

  Last year, with all of the 8th graders, we had the South Trip. We went to many places, like Rapel, Lota, Puerto Montt among others, but the place that I most liked, was Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas is named as the most beautiful city of Chile. When I was there, I saw a small city on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, Volcan Osorno, a touristic and beautiful city with much german inluence, long craftshops, very good restaurants like "Cassi´s" and very friendlypeople. I met an artesan there that taught me how to make wood figures. To finish, I can say that I will visit this place again. Of course that I will do it!

Cheat in Crossfit Games 2013

Last saturday, I went to the Crossfit Games 2013 in California and I saw that a player didn´t do a correctly exeuted push-up, and the judge, counted that wrong exercise, as a good one. I think that this is unfair for other players, because they put all of them to make a good push-up, so this is unacceptable. If I had been the judge who counted that wrong exercise, I wouldn´t have awarded it, or simply, disqualified him. So I think that for the next time, the directors of Crossfit Games, will have to worry more in the sense of choosing judges, because this is an important tournament and it has to be a serious ocasion.

More Sports, Less Junk Food

New law restrict the sale of junk food in schools.

 In Chile there is a new project that consist in a law that prohibits marketing of junk food in primary school, secondary school and high school.

 Also the law restrict their advertisements, especially to children. This is not the only thing that Chile wants, the other one is, to increase two to four hours of physical education in schools.

 This is very good in the sense of reducing overweight, because they want to stop selling junk food in schools and also complement that with doing sports.

 The only thing that is remaining now is to sent the project to the parliament, but the idea is concrete and it would be good if results, because Chile need good sportsmen to represent the country and also to reduce the level of overweight and obesity, so the better thing is, to start with children teaching them to have good habits.

 An extra information that I want to add is that, the “Centro de Investigación Euromonitor” established that in Chile are consumed $ 25 thousand pesos a year on junk food per person. Of this total, only 27% goes on burgers. But this is a moderate figure comparing it with other countries like the United States of America, because they consume 300.000 thousand pesos per person annually in junk food.

Serious Problems in Children's Health

To massificate healthy food is not the only thing that Schools have to do.

Now in schools, the people are very concerned because they want a solution to prevent injuries. The teachers are looking for some solutions to stop injuries, but they are focuse only in preventing of falling down or injuries in sports and those things, so the schools are putting answers to stop this like to integrate the concept of smart risk-taking into a school’s culture and its social norms, promoting this in events of schools, talking with parents so they can talk with their sons, talking about preventing injuries in classes and security problems that are around the school, advocate for safe walk-to-school programs and many other things. So the problem that I am seeing in this case, is that they have to worry in other problems too. I am talking about the food that schools sells, alcohol that students drink, tobacco that students smoke.  Those are some problems that schools have to prevent in kids and teenagers.

 For example in food.  In USA, 23 million of children and adolescents are obese or have overweight, this is because schools have to stop selling junk food  and they have to change drink machines that have many sugar drinks and put diet juices or water, etc. if schools don’t stop this, injuries in students will continue.

 The use of tobacco affects lungs, so this disables children to do sports in a good way.

 And the other thing that I want to talk about, is the alcohol. Some studies done by NIAAA (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) have shown the following:

In 8^th graders the 51 % have tried alcohol and in 12^th graders the 80% have tried the alcohol. So the percentage is going up when students grow up. The only thing to do if we want to stop this, is to talk in classes and in the house of every student about the bad things and consequences that leaves drinking alcohol.

An other topic of drinking alcohol is that if you start drinking alcohol at the properly  age you can have a significant impact on your future alcohol use.

A problem that is the most fatal is of drinking and then driving.  That is danger for drivers and also for persons that are walking in the streets, and between 15 and 20 years old is the  leading killer in car accidents. Other few reasons of deaths are, physical fights, homicides, suicides, falls and toxic poisoning .

So if schools want to prevent injuries, they have to take care in all things that can do injuries, damage and hurt in students.
