Letter to a Friend

Dear Tulio,

It all started when I was playing the rugby inter house, the day tuesday 4 th of october in 2011.
And playing the game I suffered a hip dislocation and I was 8 months without doing any sport activity. So that injury leaves me with a lot of consequences, for example my meniscus broken and the possible use of a hip prothesis when I am 40. In conclusion, I want to tell you that I am very nervous and sad with these situations because if this happen, I would not be able to practice any sport in the rest of my life.

" Times change, we need to change as well". This quote was said by Francois Pienaar, the captain of the "Springboks", in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The captain motivated the team saying these words to get the best out of them, and it was a relevant act in the story. This movie, is my fauvorite ine, because it leaves me with a lot of life-learnings and I also learned with it, that you can forgive people who have betrayed you, in order to be a better person, and if I refer to the movie, to unify South Africa.

Nelso Mandela was sent to prison, because he was one of the black people who wanted the union in the country, he stayed in a little cell during 27 years. when  he was released from prison, he presented himself as a president candidate. Then, he was elected. The rugby in those times was very important in relation to unite the country, because it was the only way to mingle the white and the black people, having only one purpose, cheer the Springboks up, that were playing the rugby world cup in their country. So, that wasbthe most important in order to stop the 2Apartheid2, to have a reason or motivation to unify the country, in this case, the rugby.

Summarizing, the movie started when "Madiba" was released from prison in 1990, he was passing between a rugby field, where were only white children playing and in the other part, black children playing football celebrating Mandela´s come back. The new president started thinking in how to unify the country and he realised that with the rugby he could do it, because it have a lot of values and it teach players the concept of teamwork and how to applied it. After that the president, invited Francois Pienaar to drink a cup of tea and principally to ask him and motivated him to win the world cup to unify the country and stop the racism. Yhe rugby team started to think and they could realize that all the team could make a change. Since they have there thoughts in his mind, they went to a town where only black people lived there, and they taught houw to play rugby to all the boys who wanted to learn rugby skills. After that, black people started to cheer the Springboks, because of what they did with the black boys and also, some people started to realize that they were in one country, not in two separated parts in the same territory.

I invite you to see this movie, because here you would realize and learn how a man who was abused, could forget everything and try every possibility to have a good, pacific and united country, and finally, he did it for the country's wellfore, not for him. Another good component of the movie is that it have great sound effects, the actors were the right ones, they never had a mistake and the climax is very clear to the audience

In this picture, there are rugby players of the springboks, the south african team and black skin boys in a football field. The rugby players are teaching the boys how to play rugby and principally, basic skills, for example, here I can see how Francois Pienaar is teaching the adecuated pass of the ball and also how to received it.  All the players are wearing training clothes and the boys different clothes, but all of them are green. The springboks looks very happy training the children and the kids are concentrated in what they are doing, they are focused on the practice because they don't want to lose the opportunity of practicing with the south african rugby team.

Opinion Essay

In this essay, I will be discussing the following issue: "It`s not worth combatting Global Warming, we should learn to live with it". I disagree with that vision, I am against it because I think that the world can be educated with the purpose of changing the people`s lifestyles in order to find a solution for this problem and stop with it, also for have green life, that means, a clean world, otherwise in an unknown future we won`t be able to live. I am writing about this topic, because it is a relevant problem that we have around the world that is affecting our lives. I will examine and give supportive opinions my view and another one from an opposite view.

First, what causes global warming is carbon dioxide and other types of air pollution, trapping the sun`s heat and that cause the planet`s warm up. An example of this is that, coal-burning power plants in United States, are the largest source of CO2 pollution, about 2.5 billion tons a year. But there are solutions like to put to use modernize power plants that generate own electricity from clean and nonpolluting sources, among others according to Natural Resources Defense Council(www.nrdc.org).

Another important thing to know is that the Earth is getting hotter, in 2003 extreme heat waves caused about 20.000 deaths in Europe and also 1.500 in India. What scientists say is that those events are "alarming sign of events to come". Since the 50`s in parts of the Cascade Range in Oregon and Washington, is declining the snow accumulation and winter seasons have shortened. In the Arctic, the polar ice cap, declines a 9 percent in ten years. this facts are only examples of the horror that cause the global warming that can be changed if we set limits on global warming pollution, invest in green jobs and clean, drive smarter cars, like electric ones and breaking our oil addiction, create green homes and buildings, making building more energy efficient and build better communities and transportation. All this information is on the same website (www.nrdc.org).

On the other hand, we know that the humans emit greenhouse gases(GHGs) every day, there are many, responsible of global warming and it is inevitable to stop it because we need to make the things that provoke greenhouse gases diary. Examples of this are, the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, the power plants, the factories, electricity production. The gas responsible is carbon dioxide, but there are more, like nitrous oxide, methane that are very common too, the last one can be find it in the area of agriculture and it cause 20 times the warming that cause CO2.

In conclusion, I can say that it`s worth combatting global warming, because there are many ways to live with it and for finding new solutions to the problem, the world have to put on a new lifestyle for improving their lives and believe in themselves that they can stop the pollution and this problem in the world.

Dear Mayor,

I am writing to you on behalf of all the neighbour community, because we got very surpised with the new project, that Vimac company is going to perform, an enormous mall, the biggest one of the country.

I want to ask you, why did the municipality didn't inform us or ask for our opinion about it. Summing up, i am writing to protest about this idea, because we are angry and we think that this project hasn't been started for many reasons.
It is important for you to know that the children of Bosques, play all days football, they run, ride in bycicle, among other type of games and activities in the street, were the mall will be constructed. So it is unacceptable for us to change our diary activities because of this construction.
Another reason that we have to protest, is that our neighbourhood is very peaceful and serene, so if the project is accepted, then will be more dangerous for all the families, because the traffic of people will increment.
I hope you take in consideration this arguments and also an answer to keep inform the community

My Story

The Lucky Boys

  

  There was a boy in the street walking with his friends to the supermarket, because they were hungry, when suddenly Jonathan looked down on the ground and he found a wallet. He opened it and the only thing that he saw, was $2.000.000. He started to jump and when his friends saw that quantity of money, they fainted. When they woke up, all the friends started to talk about what they are going to do with it.

  They ran to the first minimarket thes saw and Jonathan bought beers for all of them. First, because they found that money and second, because they were playing a football match and they got tired after that.

  When they were having fun there, in the supermarket, a man entered. He was an old man, bald, smart and outside the market, he parked a very luxurious car, an orange "Mclaren Slt". The boys were surprised when they saw the car and they also inferred that the man was a millionaire.

  The millionaire greeted the boys and he asked for a money that he lost, approximately $2.000.000. The boys were silent and with their faces red. Jonathan stood up and he passed all the money that he found and also, the most important, he asked him to forgive them, because what they did was a big mistake.

  Finally, the man forgave the guys and he left the minimarket with his car and his money.
